May 2023: World Lindy Hop Day - Open Level Lindy Hop Class & Social Dance - Happy Birthday Frankie Manning!(starts 6:30pm, ends 8:30pm)

It's World Lindy Hop Day! And we would love to acknowledge and celebrate Black American culture for allowing us to participate in this wonderful dance. And what better way to do so than having a dance together!

World Lindy Hop Day was established to commemorate dancer and choreographer, Frankie Manning!

We invite our South Side and North Side community to meet at the Chalise and celebrate together with our teachers World Lindy Hop Day! 

Program: 

6.30 pm: one-hour all levels class (Kathryn and Jarrod)

7.30 pm: one hour of DJ'd social dancing (and socialising with your fellow students!)

Frankie Manning as it appears on the Frankie Manning Foundaiton page: Frankie Manning has always been one of the most important forces in the development and dissemination of the Lindy hop. He is credited with many influential and lasting innovations to this truly American art form, including the creation of the Lindy air step and synchronized ensemble Lindy routine, both of which helped catapult the dance from ballroom to stage and screen.

To add just another reason to why this celebration is important to us, Ramona learned from, and was teaching assistant to Lindy hop pioneer and ambassador, Frankie Manning.
